Mark Thomas

Director

Mark Thomas is a global business consultant, author and speaker specializing in business planning, managing change, human resource management and executive leadership development.

A highly accomplished facilitator, he regularly designs, leads and facilitates top team sessions on a wide range of business planning and change management issues and initiatives. Mark also manages a wide range of executive development and organization development projects including executive leadership, change, coaching and business partnering skills development.

Based in Monmouth, Wales, Mark works across the globe – he has worked with over 100 major multi-national and global corporations in over 45 different countries.

Prior to establishing Performance Dynamics Management Consultants in 1993, Mark spent several years with Price Waterhouse Management Consultants in London. Here he advised private and public sector clients on the business and organizational change issues arising out of strategic reviews, mergers and acquisitions.

Mark’s early career was spent in corporate management and included a range of executive roles in organizational development with the US NCR Corporation and UK Unigate Group.

Mark is a frequent conference and seminar speaker on business, organization and human resource issues. He has Chaired several major international business conferences in places such as Vienna, Brussels, Istanbul, Lisbon, Paris and London

Educated at the University of Wales and the London School of Economics, Mark is a Fellow of the UK Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development. He is an Assistant Professor and Visiting Faculty member at the Tias School for Business and Society in Holland, and a regular faculty member of the Engie Corporate University. In addition he has also worked with organisations such as the American Management Association (AMA), the UK Institute of Directors, Management Centre Europe (MCE) in Brussels and the Middle East Management Centre.

As well as writing many articles on business issues he is the author of six books on management.

Mike Smith

Associate Director

Mike Smith is a global consultant working in the fields of executive development and coaching.

Mike spent the early part of his career in the learning and teaching field working with the University of Leeds. He followed this with a successful career in human resources and development with Divisions of ICI where he was involved in a wide variety of corporate initiatives on an international basis.

Mike has since worked as a highly successful consultant in the core fields of leadership and executive development. He has developed and led a series of highly successful development programmes. His activities also encompass team building and organization change initiatives. In addition, he undertakes executive coaching assignments and is well versed in the use of 360 degree feedback and psychometric instruments. He makes particular use of diagnostic instruments to drive behavioural change amongst individuals and executive teams. In recent years he has being developing his work in relation to the notion of ‘emotional intelligence’ and executive success.

Mike works throughout Europe and his consulting work covers all industries. He works with many of the world’s major corporations and his development programmes are consistently rated ‘excellent’. He is also a regular conference speaker on organization and people issues

Jan Thomas

Partner

Jan Thomas is Performance Dynamics’ Research and Operations Director.

In her role as Performance Dynamics’ Research Director, Jan leads our continuous research into the development of new and existing products and services. This research spans all aspects of our consultancy and executive development work. Her particular research interests include: human resource management, change management and; marketing strategies and techniques, and new product development. Jan’s recent research projects have included: the concepts and practices of ‘Corporate Universities’, their service provision and overall effectiveness and; the ’state-of-the-art’ in business leadership concepts, theories and practices as advocated by the world’s leadership gurus. Jan also undertakes selected client-specific research commissions.

In her role as our Operations Director, Jan is responsible for financial management, client service management and providing operational support to all aspects of our consulting service delivery.

Jan was educated at the University of Birmingham where she majored in Geography and Planning. She then completed her postgraduate degree in Human Resource Management at the London School of Economics.

Her early career was in Human Resource Management where she performed numerous HR operational roles with the Civil Aviation Authority in the UK. She then worked for several years with a financial services division of Lloyds TSB bank where she covered all aspects of Human Resource Management including employee relations, rewards and executive development. Following a career break, Jan then moved into the field of market research with RHM in the UK before working with Performance Dynamics where she holds a Partnership role.
